First-Time Home Buyer Assistance

To help you get started on solid footing, Dade County Federal can assist first-time home buyers in accessing matching funds for the down payment and closing costs incurred when purchasing a home. For every $1 you contribute to your home purchase, you can receive $4 in matching funds, up to $5,000. Funding is available to qualified first-time home buyers*

In addition to meeting eligibility requirements, the home buyer must:

  • Contribute at least $1,000 toward the purchase of the home

  • Occupy the home as a primary residence for at least five years

  • Complete a home buyer education and financial literacy course specified by FHLBank Atlanta

Community Assistance

DCFCU can assist home buyers in accessing matching funds for the down payment, closing costs, and rehabilitation costs incurred when purchasing a home. For every $1 you contribute to your home purchase, you can receive $4 in matching funds, up to $7,500. Funding is available to qualified borrowers that meet product and income eligibility requirements, including first-time home buyers or families and individuals that currently own a home or have previously owned a home.*

In addition to meeting eligibility requirements, the home buyer must:

  • Contribute at least $1,000 toward the purchase of the home

  • Occupy the home as a primary residence

  • Complete a home buyer education and financial literacy course specified by FHLBank Atlanta 

Veteran's Products

Members of the U.S. military, and their families, can receive up to $15,000 in grant funds to help them purchase or rehabilitate their home. Through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, the funds are available to veterans and active-duty members of the U.S. military, their spouses, or their surviving spouses.

Military veterans and active-duty personnel can receive up to $7,500 to help with a down payment or closing costs, while veterans and active-duty personnel that are serving or have served in an overseas military intervention can receive up to $10,000. Military veterans and active-duty personnel can receive up to $12,500 to cover home rehabilitation costs, while veterans and active-duty personnel that are serving or have served in an overseas military intervention can receive up to $15,000. 

A home buyer or homeowner must have income that is less than or equal to 80 percent of HUD median income for the area, adjusted for family size, to be eligible for available funds. No home buyer matching funds are required, and funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
