Inside DCFCU’s Summer Internship Journey

This summer, Dade County Federal Credit Union proudly welcomed six talented interns who brought fresh energy, curiosity, and dedication to departments across the organization. Placed in various departments, they quickly became an essential part of the DCFCU family—contributing ideas, supporting projects, and embracing every opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.

Our 2025 DCFCU Intern Team:

  • Abril Suarez – Account Management

  • Thomas Garcia – Learning and Development

  • Jorge Izquierdo – Mortgage Department

  • Jordan Garcia – Operations Department

  • Daniel Rodriguez – Compliance Department

  • Samantha Moraga – Community Engagement

Each intern had a unique journey during their time at DCFCU, but all left with valuable lessons and unforgettable memories.

“Working with the credit union was such an honor and something I would do again,” shared Samantha Moraga, who spent the summer supporting community engagement initiatives. “I learned so much—from financial literacy to public speaking. But one of the best parts was connecting with the other interns. Seeing how passionate they were about their work made the experience even more meaningful.”

Abril Suarez, who supported the Account Management team, echoed this sentiment:

“My favorite part was being able to cherish this experience with people my age. It was also so impactful to meet and learn from older professionals who shared such wise advice.”

Returning intern Jordan Garcia expressed excitement to continue growing with the Operations Department, stating:

“I’ve learned so much and had such a great experience working with everyone here. I can’t wait to keep learning and growing this year with the team.”

Jorge Izquierdo reflected on his time with the Mortgage Department through the lens of his favorite quote:

“Money doesn’t grow on trees.” His experience deepened his understanding of responsible lending and the real-life impact of financial decisions.

Daniel Rodriguez brought focus and determination to the Compliance Department, living by the quote:

“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments.”

Thomas Garcia, from Learning and Development, shared:

“I chose DCFCU with the desire to gain experience in the workforce and practice teamwork. My internship has been awesome—I always have something to do and something to learn.”

These reflections highlight the true purpose of the internship program: to develop future professionals by giving them the opportunity to contribute meaningfully while learning from experienced mentors.

The Gen-You committee extends its sincere gratitude to all the departments that hosted our interns and supported their growth. Your guidance, encouragement, and willingness to share your knowledge made a lasting impact.

To our interns—thank you for your hard work, your curiosity, and your enthusiasm. We can’t

wait to see where your journey takes you next!
