Gen-You Youth Advisory Committee

The Gen-You Youth Advisory Committee Learning Program provides high school age students with the chance to explore career opportunities in a not-for-profit organization, while accumulating community service hours. Through our program, students will develop a strong work ethic, learn valuable business skills, gain work experience and acquire a greater understanding of the business environment. The students work will give them a sense of accomplishment as they reach different levels of responsibility and their relationship with Dade County Federal Credit Union grows.

The Gen-You Youth Advisory Committee is a Learning Program designed to help students develop skills such as:

  • Finances

  • Marketing and Planning

  • Leadership

  • Organization

  • Volunteerism

In order to participate in this program, students must be 14 years of age or older and must submit an application, essay and three references to be considered.  Students cannot be related to any DCFCU employee and only one student can represent a school per elected term. Position Descriptions

Chairperson

  • Acts as an Liaison for the Youth Advisory Committee and the Gen-You Committee

  • Fundraiser Coordinator

  • The student must be at least 17-18 years old

  • 9 hours per month on the weekends per term

  • Work with Gen-You Community Liaison to conduct meetings and will be the official spokesperson for the Youth Advisory Committee

  • Works with Gen-You Community Liaison to send meeting reminders

Vice-Chair

  • The student must be at least 15-16 years old

  • 9 hours per month on the weekends per term

  • Works with the Gen-You Committee to report the overall impact of the Youth Advisory Committee meetings

  • Reports fundraising goals and progress to the Gen-You Committee

  • Acts as an Liaison for the Youth Advisory Committee in lieu of the Chairperson

Treasurer

  • The student must be between the ages of 15-16

  • 6 hours per month on the weekends per term

  • Work with the Gen-You Committee on a Budget for the Fundraisers

  • Monitor Youth Advisory Committee Budget

Communications

  • The student must be between the ages of 14-15

  • 6 hours per month on the weekends per term

  • Assist the Gen-You Committee with Social Media

  • Assist the Gen-You Committee with content creation

  • Research ideas of what is trending in the Social Media world and Financial Institutions

Secretary

  • The student must be at least 14 years of age

  • 6 hours per month on the weekends per term

  • Calls roll at all Youth Advisory Committee meetings

  • Takes minutes at all Youth Advisory Committee meetings and distributes minutes via email within 48 hours

  • Ensures Youth Advisory Committee contact info is up to date


The term will begin on Monday, August 19th, 2019 through Monday May 25th, 2020. The student understands that they must attend 8 out of the 10 meetings throughout the school year. The student understands that they will need be a member of DCFCU.
